Stay at Home Date Night - Pour Painting, the beauty of moving paints

Dating during Quarantine.

We all know meeting people can be hard, but throw quarantine in there and it makes it a little bit harder!
You’ll need to find something fun, something easy, but something thoughtful!
Okay, lets fast-forward, you got your date, you have a day, now you are figuring out what to do! We got you covered! Pour Painting! Have you heard of it? It’s the beautiful movement of paint.

Let’s get started!

What you will need:
Your choice of Paints
Drop cloth
Your date ;)

Step #1:

Set the mood:
You will need a drop cloth on the table and on the floor, moving paint gets a little messy!
Light that candle and grab your glasses of wine, or whiskey, or tea!

Step #2:

Grab your paint colors, at least 3 colors work best (a base, a highlight, and a dark)
Squeeze your paint to the 1oz measurement on the cup. You will put each paint color in a different cup.

Step #3:

To make the paint move, you will need to add a thinner, Folderol is our go to! Add your folderol and mix with your paint until it is a buttermilk consistency. Until it is running off your mixing stick.
This will also be the time to add a 1/2 tsp of pouring oil to one (or more) of your paints! The pouring oil creates beautiful cells in your painting!

Step #4:

For the dirty pour, take a new cup and layer your paints on top of each other! Fill your cup to at least 8oz!

Step #5:

Once your cup is filled with your layered paints, its time to flip your cup!

 Step #6:

Cover your canvas with all your paint. Move your canvas to guide your paint around your canvas. Make sure you get all the corners and edges. Add detail by dripping paint with your mixing stick!

Step #7:

Let dry for 24-48 hours (depending on how much paint you used)
Seal your work with Mod Podge or any clear sealer!
Now you both have something to admire, something new for your home, something that is meaningful, expressive, gentle and genuine!
